Progesterone bleed?

Yup, me yet again.
I'm on day 6 (I think) of my progesterone phase and I seem to be having a fairly heavy (period like) bleed. Its more than just spotting.
Do I keep taking the progesterone? I have it in pessary form (cyglogest) - how does that work then with tampons etc?
Confused.

I carried on sticking it up until the bleeding got too much, then there didn't seem much point.

Not sure about tampons, I have prolapse so can't use them.

I get bleed early sometimes and I tend to stop taking the utrogestan as the point of it is that it's supposed to keep your progesterone levels high until day 28 so if the period has started I figure there's no point wasting the pills.

I read somewhere, and it might be bullshit, that if you get an early or atypical period, it's your actual period breaking through, and overriding the withdrawal breed created by the progesterone. No idea if that's factual, but seems to make a bit of sense to me.
