Progesterone dosage.

Can anyone tell me what the progesterone dose would be for 75 mcg of estrogen, for both combined and sequential HRT.

I'm really struggling atm. I was on Evorel patches. 75 mcg of Estadiol and 170 mcg of Norethisterone sequentially. All was good.

GP has said there are new guidelines, I need to be taking 300mcg progestogen for 14 days if I take it sequentially or 200mcg combined. She prescribed me Utrrogestan, but because I've really struggled with it in the past, she has prescribed it combined daily and I've reduced the estradiol to 50mcg to keep the utrogestan dose lower.

I'm really struggling, 50mcg is letting menopausal symptoms creep back. The Utrogestan makes me tearful and utterly exhausted. I'm taking it vaginally now but it still causes issues. I also worry as it contains titanium dioxide which I don't want to be using internally. I desperately want to go back to the old dose of estradiol, but can't face upping the utrogestan.

I'm 54 and still have periods.

I live in a country where doctors' knowledge of menopause is way behind the UK. The link upthread about recent guidelines is also only accessible within the UK. Can anyone tell me if they are on a similar dosage to me or if this sounds normal or not please? I have 2 pumps per day of Estradiol gel (2 x 1.25g) and 1 x 100mg Utrogestan capsule every day. My oestrogen levels are normal since taking this but I have very irregular bleeding throughout the month. I'm wondering if I should try to change anything. The doctors here really are clueless.

Asfaik that's fine. But had your periods completely stopped for at least a year before being prescribed HRT? Because going onto continuous HRT too soon can cause irregular bleeds. Normally sequential (progesterone for 14ish days) is recommended if you still have periods.

I have PMed you. It probably looks like spam as I'm hopeless at PMs 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but I have attempted to PDF you the NICE guidelines.

Thank you @SusannaOh. I haven't logged in for a couple of days but just found your message. My periods had been all over the place for a few years as well as having hot flushes and, because I wasn't getting anywhere with doctors, I was taking the pill instead until I started to have constant bleeding on that. So, no, I haven't had a whole year of no periods. For the first month of HRT, I was taking progesterone for 14 days and I can't remember why my doctor changed that. I have now downloaded the NICE pdf you sent me so I'll have a read 🙂
