Provera vs Otrogestan

Because of the supply issues with utrogestan my GP has changed me onto Provera 5mg. I've taken it for 10 nights now but I've noticed some previous menopausal symptoms that weren't present when I was on the utrogestan. I also use the oestrogen gel which hasn't changed.
The night sweats are still under control but the general aches and pains are back and my mood is all over the place (I can be quite aggressive with the irritability). I know that theoretically there shouldn't be a difference between the 2 drugs but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or is it my imagination?

Utrogestan (bioidentical progesterone) is quite different from synthetic androgenic progestins such as medroxyprogesterone (which is what Provera contains). The latter often causes severe PMT-type symptoms in those who have "progesterone sensitivity". So no, you aren't imagining it - Provera is a poor substitute for Utrogestan in this respect as well as being riskier as far as blood clots, heart disease and breast cancer are concerned.
