Period with cramps 3 years post menopause

Im 53 and 3 years post menopause. I've just started a proper period with medium bleeding and ovarian cramps etc

Have been very happy on hrt for 3 years without problems

I know bleeding post menopause is a concern... but this is not just random bleeding, it actually feels cramp wise like a proper period.... so could it be just a period after a gap and therefore no need for concern? Or is it still worth getting checked with my gp?

Please advise anyone who has had this..

I had a heavy bleed after about 3 years with nothing. I was lucky to get an ultrasound appointment within the 2 weeks (not on HRT) which showed a resolving egg follicle in one ovary, so I had indeed ovulated! So it is possible for this to happen but should always be checked.

Evening all... no didn't get a referral. Here's how is panned out:

Did the 6 weeks as asked on no HRT.

Got no more bleeds thank goodness.

Went back to GP to report progress and request more HRT patches.
GP said her view was that as no more bleeds happen whilst off HRT that the HRT may have been the cause. ( not sure I agree as had several trouble free years on hrt)

Anyways no back on HRT and all fine in terms of no more bleeds. Only interesting point was it took several weeks from restarting HRT to get meno symptoms such as horrible hot flushes and night sweats to settle down again... but happy to say all settling now.

Glad to have found this as I've experienced this today and am freaking out. I haven't had a period for 20 months (and the last thing I had was so minor it didn't really count as a period, just some spotting). The GP increased my oestrogen HRT in July because my levels were still too low on the previous dose. Yesterday I got an awful headache which I put down to the weather and today some minor spotting which had me worried. Tonight - I am bleeding. Like a minor period but the cramps are real. I've literally just been discharged from the Long Covid clinic after suffering 9 months, finally feeling like I've got my life back after countless medical appointments and this happens. Have put in a request via my GP's e-consult system.
What worries me too is that on previous scans (I had a CT scan 2 years ago for diverticulitis plus earlier kidney/bladder scans), the radiographer had commented on the large size of my uterus and no one did anything or took it further, and now this has happened. I am not normally one to get too panicked but I am pretty scared.

I had an ultrasound on Thursday, nothing obvious showed up thankfully but it'll be reviewed in more detail. My blood results came back normal so overall feeling a bit more reassured. I've got a gynae appointment at the hospital on Tuesday.
