Hi all I was just wondering if anyones migraines improved after perimenopause? I used to get maybe one a year very severe and wipe me out for days, but now they seem to be getting much more frequent just hoping there is some light at the end of the tunnel as they are starting to knock my confidence.

Are you on HRT? Mine were awful till I got HRT sorted. I hadn't really twigged that they were a meno symptom, but I only have them occasionally now.

Hi not me but my Dsis and DFriend both had awful migraines during peri menopause that increased in frequency and severity - both of them are totally migraine free now they are on HRT . Give it a try!

Hi both thanks so much for your replies I'm not on hrt and was a bit nervous about trying it in case it made them worse x from reading the above I think it might be worth a try as the unpredictability of the attacks is starting to put me on edge x

Sumatriptan is really useful to have in case of hormonal migraines I find.

I was prescribed Frovatriptan to get me through the menopause. Worked a treat.

Mine really ramped up during peri, and earlier this year I was up to 1 or 2 every week. Since I started HRT, they are down to no more than 2 per month (though I am sitting here having one right now!).

PlainOldEmmaJane · 21/06/2023 16:29

I’ve only had one migraine since starting HRT 6 months ago. Before that, peri had significantly increased the number I was having, and they were lasting longer. Definitely worth giving it a try op.

Absolutely miraculous in my experience. Can't recommend it enough!
