Are Drs informed when a prescription is filled?

Sorry, I could not find a better Topic to post this under.
I have a private prescription for a medication from a specialist I'm seeing. The thing is, this drug is very expensive in the UK, but way cheaper from abroad. So, instead of taking the UK prescribed brand, I've been using the foreign one, and I'm wondering if the Dr could somehow know that I have not used the prescription? Do pharmacies notify private Drs when a prescription they issued has been filled?
I've a follow up appointment next week, and I would like to know. If anyone could shed some light I'd be so grateful!

No, the pharmacy wouldn't contact the prescriber unless they had a private prescription in front of them and something needed to be clarified, in which case they would more likely contact you first.
The prescriber wouldn't know if or when their private prescription was dispensed.

No, but how do you know you’re not being sold a counterfeit medicine?

Thank you so much for your response!

Because I regularly travel and buy these myself, it´s not like I order them on the internet.

@BusyBeeBB Is this by any chance the Ovestin pessaries that you mentioned and I asked if you were outside the UK? (As they aren't available in the UK.)

If so, how does the specialist based in the UK prescribe a product not available in the UK? (unless you buy them online from a non-uk outlet.)

I have private prescriptions for HRT from my consultant but they are what is available here on the NHS as well. I am not aware that the info is passed on but all letters about my treatment are copied to the NHS practice, as is the protocol /courtesy for private treatment.

Apologies if I've confused you with another poster of a similar name.

Does an overseas pharmacy accept a UK prescription?

Or can they be bought OTC overseas?

BusyBeeBB · 16/06/2023 12:33

No worries, re: confusion. And yes, the medication in question is available OTC overseas.

There are some very reputable online/overseas pharmacies. I use one for my Natural Dessicated Thyroid hormones (Armour).
