Changing from 14 nights of 200 utrogestan to 100 every night

Having horrendous bleeds with clots the past few months. TV ultrasound scan showed confirmed fibroid and lining is normal. Doc has upped my to 75 Estradot from 50, and said take 100 utrogestan capsule every single night without a break instead of 200 over 14 nights to help control the bleeding.
BUT….. everything I read suggest this a regime for post menopausal women. I was still getting a period.

Is this ok, GP seemed to rely too heavily on google during my consultation:(

That’s the same regimen that I’m on. You’re right, it is generally prescribed for post-menopausal women but can also be followed also if you are still peri-menopause and have been taking HRT for over one year.

I don’t know if I’m post-menopause (had an ablation several years ago so no bleeds) but given my age and some signs of ovulation I don’t think I am. But I have been on HRT for a few years now for peri menopausal issues. 100 utrogestan daily has worked much better for me. I would give it a go!

Having horrendous bleeds with clots the past few months.

Not clear from your post if these are withdrawal bleeds (on HRT) or your own periods? (You should get one regular withdrawal bleed each 4th week.)

You could try 100mgs a day but as PP says it may not work if you are in peri.

The other option is as you are on a high dose patch, you can take 300mgs x 14 days.

Thanks.

I have never had a what I would call a withdrawal bleed, it’s been a light period, but the last few months it’s been very heavy and clots present very much how my periods were pre- HRT.

Me: 42, 43 next month.
Been on HRT since April 2022.
Started on 50 Estradot and 12 nights Utrogestan. Bleed (light) would be approx 7-10 days after taking night 12 of utrogestan. Time got longer inbetween night 12 and light bleed until it started right on night 1 of having to take utrogestan again.
Doc changed me to 75 Estradot and 100 utrogestan EVERY NIGHT with NO break, a couple of weeks ago.
Had Perimenopause symptoms since aged 40 and palmed off with antidepressants until April 2022 when HRT regime started.

Improves: Sweats, anxiety, palpitations, flushes

Not improved: Sleep, mood, rage, itching, libido (it’s totally gone……).

Due to start taking utrogestan from 22nd in keeping with previous regime. Started 75 patches last week.

Do I take 3 nights break? It mentions this on the info leaflet in the box.

Sorry for the waffling, just feeling meh these days and no light at the end of my tunnel.
