Apparently Im in the peri menopause (im 45) but in the last new months I am so freaking itchy!!! My face, my arms, my back, my lips - Ive had eczema in the past but this is driving me absolutely mad - im not particularly stressed but feel irritated and and scratchy. Has anyone else had this? What would I even say to the derm or GP??

Yep, this was my first symptom aged 44, then came the irritable bladder, then the joint aches & the mood swings. HRT sorted the itching within a week, the rest slowly improved/resolved.

In the short term, lots and lots of moisturiser - as hormones change your skin gets much drier and more easily irritated. I particularly need to slather it on before bed, or as soon as I get warm it starts acting up!

The itching was a nightmare for me too. I just pop a antihistamine every night before bed and that's taken the edge off x

I’m experiencing this at the moment and have been for the past 2 months now.
I had initially ruled out anything obvious I could think of ie/ allergies, detergents etc
All bloods came back normal, but GP advised I start Spatone as ferritin levels were on the lower side of normal and start using Dermal 500 to wash and bath with etc.
Im taking on average between 2-3 antihistamine a day and am covered in bruises from the scratching.
In addition to this I have had fatigue and brain fog for what feels like forever now, even to the point that I have considered other conditions to explain my symptoms.
I don’t have periods due to my coil and am 42.
I wish I could give advice, but simply commenting to reassure you that you are not alone and I feel your pain 😔.

Yes I had that with other peri symptoms. It stopped a few weeks after starting HRT.

Were your bloods abnormal before you started HRT or did you just start it based on your symptoms?

My GP was content to start me based on my symptoms; my blood test was clear.

My blood all appear normal but I did speak to a female menapause specialist and she suggested HRT which after thinking about for 2 weeks I’ve decided to start

I did cut out all skin care things I was using also and have only used Epionce Calming Face Wash and the Calming Moisturiser and that has also helped
