Can you get oestrogel to 'top up' tablets?

I'm on Novofem 1mg and it works well for me, however occasionally (perhaps one week a month) I get really bad aches and pains and my suspicion was that I just needed a bit more estrogen.
By way of an experiment I chopped up some of my estrogen-only tablets and added the equivalent of 0.5mg and it made a huge difference - getting rid of any pain/ stiffness in 24 hours!

But on tablets, my only option is to double the dose and go to 2mg, which I don't want to do, as it's slightly higher risk, and I don't think I need that much.

So I wondering if anyone has ever has oestrogel for occasional 'top up' purposes?

To be honest you would be far better to completely switch to Oestrogel as there is no increased risk of blood clots and various other issues that you get with the tablets. I would ask to give it a go.

I’ve tried patches for transdermal in the past and I can’t tolerate the progesterone that goes with it unfortunately. For good or worse, Norethisterone seems to be the only one I can cope with, and on a sequential regime, nor continuously.

You can use Norethisterone as a tablet on its own with gel (I did, for 6 years.)

Your GP may not be educated on HRT prescribing but they could find out from advice online (for drs) or by asking a menopause specialist.
