Are you peri menopause ( still having periods) or post menopause ( no period for ar least 12 months).

cleo333 · 04/06/2023 12:13

The consultant decided I was menopausal as the only time I had a period in the last year was after the covid jab

Okay, do you take utrogestan daily ( 100 dose). It might be that you are not absorbing it well? Plus bleeding in the first 6 months of any hrt regime, although annoying, isn't uncommon.

cleo333 · 05/06/2023 20:27

This bleeding is really heavy and painful ( as my periods used to be . I expected a potential bleed but this is rubbish :(

Stick with it OP. I had horrendous breasts for two months and now absolutely nothing and all the stomach bloating went too.

I've even gone up to 100 from 50 and no negatiflve side effects.

cleo333 · 06/06/2023 18:28

Thank you I will hang in there

I’m on that one and it’s ok. Stopped night sweats, but periods (floods) aren’t great.

cleo333 · 06/06/2023 18:34

Is anyone's sleep and aches improved ? X

OP posts:
Moredarkchocolateplease · 06/06/2023 20:39

My sleep is amazing now. I hadn't really noticed how bad I'd been sleeping for the last 3 or 4 years. It became normal.

I sleep better now than since before I had children.

I don't do the oral utrogestan though, that made me feel drugged the next day.

My sleep especially improved when I went up to 75 and then 100.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 06/06/2023 20:39

I've never had the aches and pains so can't comment on those.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 07/06/2023 11:24

I’ve been on Everol conti since the end of March. Initially didn’t notice a huge improvement in symptoms but then I realised my joints weren’t aching, I was less anxious and I was sleeping a lot better, so was delighted.
But FF to end of May and I had sore breasts, cramps and then a short but painful period. Literature all says that May happen, should resolve and isn’t an issue if it’s within the first six months of starting HRT. However, yesterday cramps started again and I’m bleeding again 😢. So less than 2 weeks later. Prior to starting HRT I hadn’t had a period for nearly two years, so I don’t understand what’s going on up there!
Feeling v downhearted - a bit like, “ok you can lose the aching joints, insomnia and anxiety, but you’ll have to put up with frequent painful periods, yeah?” Incidentally far more discomfort than when I’m used to have periods ffs 🤦‍♀️.
Anyone there who can tell me there’s light at the end of this??
Sympathies OP and others experiencing this.

mrschocolatte · 07/06/2023 20:36

Feeling your pain @AvonCallingBarksdale! I’ve posted about this elsewhere - my periods stopped 7 years ago at the age of 44. Once I passed the one year mark post periods, I started getting hot flushes and brain fog and started oral HRT. I had no periods in that whole time except for one bleed about 3 years ago. It was so unusual I was referred to a gynaecologist and had an internal check done but all was ok. HRT was brilliant as it kept all my symptoms in check. Then in November last year I felt like I was starting to get symptoms again so I saw a menopause specialist and I was moved from oral HRT to the patches. Since February I have had three horrendous periods. Each lasting longer than the last. I’m currently 4 weeks into my latest one. I don’t understand why they’ve come back after so long. The GP thinks it will all settle down as my body gets used to the change in HRT. I hope so because I can’t bear this!

cleo333 · 07/06/2023 20:39

I fell your pain totally . It's a total shock . I'm experiencing blood loss and pain like I've never had . Hopefully the change when this settles will be worth it

@cleo333 Oh I hope it gets better for you soon. I can’t believe how rubbish pads and towels are now. Haven’t found a decent one yet to deal with the heavy flows. Buying period pants at the age of 51 is not something I ever saw myself doing. But they have helped a lot and have given me confidence to go out and about on the really heavy days.

imip · 07/06/2023 22:00

Is it possible that covid stopped your periods and this is actually a normal bleed? This happened to me. I am on conti/everoil 50. I also get lots of pimples, but my brain function is much better and I can speak normally!

I had a huge period last Nov, and basically they think I still peri menopausal, despite being on the sequia, which means I shouldn’t bleed.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 07/06/2023 22:27

@cleo333 @mrschocolatte I feel bad saying I’m pleased others are experiencing the same but it’s good to know I’m not alone. Tried to get an appointment with the meno nurse at my surgery but that would be in 5 weeks time so was advised by the receptionist to say I was concerned by vaginal bleeding so that they were compelled to see me within 2 weeks.

Perdy460 · 10/09/2023 21:17

Hey ladies-do you have an update on the bleeding issues you had? I’ve just started Conti from sequi and I feel amazing and am sleeping like a baby (even in this heat) but the bleeding is getting me down….I’d like to know if yours has settled since your post?

Passthecake30 · 10/09/2023 21:42

I’m like OP and the only period I’ve had in the last couple of years were after covid jabs. I was put on gel plus ultrogestan for 3 months and then moved to Everol conti due to supply issues - though I much prefer patches, less faff and the gel was drying my skin out. Anyway… all was going ok with the patches but then I had 3 five day periods, each 19 days apart. They weren’t horrendous, but definately period like. I’m now on day 19 again so on high alert. I’m feeling great on the conti aside from that, sleeping well, aches and pains gone, less vaginal dryness and titinus gone.

mrschocolatte · 11/09/2023 07:59

Hey, yes a couple of weeks after I last posted in response to OP’s thread, the bleeding did stop and I had a thankfully period free summer. Then about 2 weeks ago (just in time for my 2 week holiday 🙄) I had very light bleeding which has been on and off since but it’s much more manageable than before. Hopefully this too will stop.

The one thing I’ve noticed this time around was, I was pretty rubbish taking all my vitamins this summer that I’ve been taking for months and actually stopped taking them as I wasn’t convinced they were helping at all. Well now I’m super convinced that they’ve been helping me with the HRT to keep me on an even keel. I feel every ache and pain in my body and I’m getting injured more frequently when I exercise. Also I’m so tired all the time and my sleep is fitful. I’ve restarted all my vitamins again and fingers crossed I’ll feel more like myself again. I take Magnesium, Selenium and Vitamin D along with Menopace if you’re interested (I suffer with an under active thyroid so a lot of these were in response to that.)

Good luck ladies and hope this will stop soon for you both!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/09/2023 09:35

Hi OP here. Bit of an update - the menopause nurse at my GP practice referred me for a scan due to the bleeding - all very routine for any episodes of post-meno bleeding. Anyway scan was all clear and no thickening of the womb. So back to the nurse who can only say that hopefully the bleeding will subside. If it doesn’t then we will look at different patches and a gel. I don’t want to tempt fate but it’s getting less frequent and lighter. So I’m going to hang on and see if it eventually stops (will give it to end of year) because everything else about Everol Conti is working for me.
Hey ho what a time 🤣. How’s everyone else?

AvonCallingBarksdale · 12/09/2023 09:40

Oh it clearly it hasn’t helped that much. I’m not OP. I was sure I’d started a similar thread 🤣. Dear oh dear. Sorry @cleo333 !!

Greedybilly · 12/09/2023 09:42

There's lots of types/doses of HRT- took me 4 types and finally doing ok with kliofem. Worth trying other types I think.good luck
