Bleeding just after period has ended

I've posted in General health but I've just realised in here is probably better.

I'm 46 my last period ended about 4/5 days ago. Yesterday I noticed pinky discharge when I wiped and thought nothing of it. This morning the discharge was a bit more pinker again didn't think too much of it.
At lunchtime I had a small amount of red blood on my panty liner nothing drastic. I've had a headache all day, I feel washed out and have mild cramps.

Is this a peri thing? It's never happened to me before only when I've been on the mini pill years ago and that caused erratic bleeding.

The last few cycles I've had have been shorter I've always been bang on 28 days now it's between 25/27 days, My period is also stopping after around three days whereas it would usually be 4/5 days.

I'm a huge suffer of anxiety so naturally this bleeding has freaked me.

Hopeful bump,
I have a GP consult later this afternoon so hopefully that will put my mind at ease.

I'm still spotting red blood but only when I wipe. I'm not as crampy today but I do have a banging headache still and I feel anxious.

Hi- I just wondered how you got on as I have similar now? Thanks

sjj28358 · 15/09/2023 16:35

I spot and / or bleed for about 20 days of my 23 day cycle, have perhaps three days off and then start spotting again. Very tedious.

I have had fibroids diagnosed and am waiting to see a gynae to discuss options. This started quite suddenly a few months ago.

All I can say is make a GP appointment to set the ball rolling as bleeding this much of the time can be quite life-limiting, esp silly if it's heavy and unpredictable.

Hmm I occasionally get this (mid forties) I definitely think it’s to do with changing hormones

janicegarvey · 15/09/2023 16:47

Hi both I am 44 and probably peri and I've had similar but brown bleeding

I'll find my original post and c&p it but I'm waiting for a hysteroscopy

It is fairly normal in your 40s and is generally due to hormonal changes but definitely get it checked out x

madamegazelle1 · 15/09/2023 16:48

Thankyou for your reply- it seems very sudden like mine. My periods are reasonably light so the heavy couple of days were still
manageable but I can imagine it becomes tedious if this carries on!

madamegazelle1 · 15/09/2023 16:49

I am going to get it checked out but I assume it’s hormonal too

madamegazelle1 · 15/09/2023 16:51

It’s so unusual for me so I’ll get it checked out- hope you get good results when you have your hysteroscopy. Thanks for replying

Copied and pasted from my other thread

So last couple of months I've had a few days of light brown bleeding for a few days after my period. I had an ultrasound and some womb thickening was noted and I recently saw the gynae to discuss results

she is not overly concerned but has suggested it may be worth having a hysteroscopy

She says based on my ultrasound it is not urgent and I have no other risk factors. She said it is v common in pre menopausal women (they only really tend to be concerned if these sort of symptoms happen post menopausal)

She has also said I can try the progesterone only contraceptive pill as that can help minimise bleeding by making periods lighter

So I am sat in the chemist waiting for my prescription now, hopefully it helps til I get my hysteroscopy date
