Worsening facial hair on hrt

I am 46 and been on oestrogel for 10 years and had 2 Mirena coils in this time.
First started via Professor Studd as his treatment for PND and its worked OK.

I've always had some facial hair since my teens, which I've managed with bleach.
For about the last 6 months, I've noticed waaay more peach fuzz on my face, with the odd darker long hair mixed in. And darker hair on my stomach and rib cage/torso.

I'll see my GP, not anticipating too much. I may try to see Studd again.

But wondering, could this be down to my own perimenopause actually kicking in? I'm on 4 pumps of Oestrogel daily by now. I've read that falling progesterone can also allow testosterone to be more active in the body, causing unwanted hair. Should I maybe change from mirena to utrogestan to get a body identical source of actual progesterone?

Any help greatly appreciated before I start splashing the cash again

It could be the Mirena which is an androgenic progestogen. It's only licensed (I think) for 4 years as HRT so maybe it's getting low anyway?

Sadly, Studd died (last year, I think) although his clinic may still be there with a team of drs.

Ah didn't realise he had died. Just spoke with his secretary and yes there are people in his clinic now with same approach.

I also didn't realise Mirena was androgenic progesterone. I havent had issues with it for all these years, so I don't think its made my body hair grow, I've been lucky.

But now, there is nothing to help with naturally falling progesterone. So maybe I need to try utrogestan to get some actual progesterone into me.....

I can see me needing to fork out for bloods really.

did you get diagnosis of PCOS ever, OP?

In case it makes a difference: not progesterone, I think, but progestogen.
