HRT newbie and just feel so utterly low and wonder if my brain will turn back on

Well that.... just sharing my
I was on the minipill (progesterone only) for 5.5 years but due to perimenopausal symptoms rearing their heads I started HRT.

Minipills swapped for mirena coil which was fitted four weeks ago and now on day 10 of two pumps of oestrogel.

Great thing since starting the oestrogel is that I am actually now feeling awake. Hurrah for that. Before this I was so totally utterly fatigued. I can definitely tell a difference with that.

Brain not turned back on though (I live in hope) and I still feel like I sometimes cannot compute things and definitely struggle to find words to things I actually know!

Anyone out there whose brain came back on after starting HRT and if so how long did it take?

Also my mood..... am feeling really pretty shitty and low. (I wonder if this could have been impacted by swapping the mini pill for the coil.) Hoping this will turn for the better. Am feeling really flat....and things that I 'know' actually matter to me I am a bit whatever about.......which is not the 'true me'

@cleowasmycat That is great that you noticed a difference so much earlier. Oh and I hope it was positive differences.

I was so low and anxious and my brain was mashed. I’d been gradually delving for. Maybe 4 or 5 years but it came to a head 3 months ago. I’m on week 6 of HRT now, and I can say that I think I am honestly 80% back to the normal me, though I started to notice it after 4 weeks. It is a little miracle for me, and I hope you’ll find the same.

Delving? Declining!

I started noticing improvements within about 3w of starting HRT. I then continued improving for about 3 months.

I still feel like I sometimes cannot compute things and definitely struggle to find words to things I actually know!

Absolutely! This was oneof the last things to improve. But it did get better.

It also took a few weeks for me to feel comfortable with the Mirena (subsequent Mirenas have taken just a couple of days), so I should be surprised if this is a factor, too.

@HeidiUpTheMountain Ah that’s wonderful to hear you feel such a positive impact!

@WashAsDelicates Great to hear you experienced Improvements after three weeks. That gives me hope.

Also your comment re coil. This is my very first one. Guess it will be a bit of a change for the body to be on mini pill for 5.5 years and swapping for something else. Must have more patience ! (So not one of my virtues
