I turned 53 a couple of months ago.

My periods were regular and my last one was the beginning of November, just before a major operation. I then didn't have another and assumed that was that (after asking on here - different username).

Last month I had very light bleeding for a couple of days.

I've had PMS ever since they stopped, but this ramped up (dizziness, which my GP said was not related to hormones, but only came before a period, got particularly bad. I had to take Sumatriptan for migraines, awful insomnia, had these funny little spots on my head and my tummy was bloated and making strange noises, mouth ulcers, etc - all PMS symptoms for me.

Yesterday I came on...properly. It is pretty heavy and making me feel ill with the bowel problems and pain making me feel sick. It is exactly one month since the light bleeding, but this is a full-blown, proper period.

I'm really confused. My Dsis had her last period at 49, my mum at 51. I'm not sure whether this is one last 'hurrah' or not?

I'm also disappointed as I was given Evorel Conti last year, but couldn't take it due to still menstruating and I couldn't get it changed, despite trying, so I guess I won't be able to use them till next year now.

Everyone is different. Erratic periods are classic so I wouldn't worry, of course get checked out if you wish but it all sounds normal to me.

Why wouldn't they give you sequential hrt? If you are 100% sure you want hrt and have read all pros and cons just ask for a telephone consult and request a cyclical prescription as you aren't 1yr post last period.

@Janiie thank you, I guess we are all different, I just assumed I would be the same and was a bit thrown at suddenly having a normal period after months of nothing.

Hm this sounds EXACTLY the same as me actually except I'm 2 years younger than you! I've had mega-sore boobs and it feels like another period is about to land.

Fuck off periods, you were not missed in the slightest.
