Thinking of coming off HRT.

Looking for something to help:

Joint pains
Mood swings
Anxiety

So thinking of trying:
Collagen
Magnesium
Star flower oil

Any personal recommendations would be fabulous thanks 😊

@Runaround50 I take the ones from Wild Nutrition. They seem to do the job!

It’s a pain not being able to have HRT though. I’m still doing lots of research to see if I can. At the moment my symptoms aren’t too bad.

Delatron · 04/05/2023 19:56

Sorry Holy Basil is also an adaptogen (this is what ashwagandha is too). So you may not need both. They have calming and relaxing properties.

Have just read an amazing book called Level Up by Dr Stacy Sims. It’s about nutrition/exercise etc throughout the perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

It’s very informative. Especially for those that do lots of exercise.

@Delatron thanks. Just looking at wild nutrition now. I've been allowed hrt, under the guidance of a menopause specialist. The GP just said no, given my BC history. However, unfortunately, it isn't enough to keep symptoms at bay, no matter what I take.

Delatron · 04/05/2023 20:39

@Runaround50 I’m thinking of speaking to a menopause specialist at some point. If you have any recommendations! Thank you. I do want HRT to be an option on the table for the future. Sorry to hear it’s not keeping symptoms at bay though. It’s such a tricky time. I hope you can find some supplements to help.

I have hypertension and had a heart "event" about 18 months ago. They can't decide if it was a Heart Attack or really bad episode of unstable angina...

Anyway... not allowed HRT

I want to kill people
I'm exhausted
I ache all over
Zero libido
And tearful/forgetful

It's making me miserable.

I'm a bit bamboozled by all the different suggestions (and don't have lots of money) so would love to know the beat "one product" supplement.

Especially from anyone in my shoes?

Runaround50 · 05/05/2023 16:20

@Delatron thanks.
I don't know where you are based geographically, but I can recommend Dr Paula Briggs. She's the chairperson of the British Menopause Society.

I think if you look on the BMS website, you should be able to find a suitable specialist in your area. Some do remote/ zoom calls also.

It is indeed a very tricky time!

Best of luck 🤞

Evening primrose oil

Delatron · 05/05/2023 17:54

Thank you so much @Runaround50 I’m in the SE but yes many do Zoom calls these days which is helpful!

Runaround50 · 06/05/2023 10:16

@Delatron best of luck. HRT is possible for us BC survivors; it's just a case of finding a good specialist who will prescribe. You will certainly have a good choice in the SE i expect.

Hey @Runaround50
Sorry been busy & not checked in.
Have stated to wean off today.

Rather than go cold turkey!
Name changed and started another thread here about weaning off HRT, if you want to join me?

off HRT www.mumsnet.com/Talk/menopause/4801164-weaning-off-hrt

How are things with you???

Runaround50 · 07/05/2023 13:38

I've just replied to your other thread.
I feel pretty grim to be honest.
I don't know what my body needs right now.

Urgghhhhh.
