Utrogestan- is there still a supply issue?

I've got about 3 cycles worth left and have a new prescription to fill when I can (private.) I tried 2 city centre pharmacies at the weekend and both were out of stock. Boots in my smaller town is out too.

But I've seen posts here from new HRT users who seem to be starting it and have had no issues. How's everyone finding supplies at the moment?

I got my prescription last week with no problem.

GCWorkNightmare · 30/04/2023 19:15

I got some easily yesterday.

80sMum · 10/05/2023 23:24

I ordered my Utrogestan prescription from Lloyds Direct almost 3 weeks ago, on 21st of April. They are still awaiting stock!

Rattymare · 10/05/2023 23:26

No issue for me at Tesco pharmacy

VivienScott · 13/05/2023 16:50

I’m waiting on my nhs prescription from 6 weeks ago from Lloyd’s direct and they’re still out of stock. I’ve checked all over the south east. Managed to get some via private pharmacy so I’m ok for now, but looks like they’re running low now as well.

If it's any help, Besins website says there was a delivery going into the supply chain from 8 may and another from 15 may.

Still issues where I am in east London. My pharmacy hasn't has Utrogestan for months. I got 1 month of Utrogestan privately (in the hope that supplies would become available on the NHS) but then went back to my GP for help. My GP prescribed me Provera and I didn't have any problems getting it. I've been taking Provera for 5 days so far and all good. No side effects at all (so that's better than Utrogestan!)

GayPareeee · 15/05/2023 21:30

I got 3 months worth same day from pharmacy (NHS script) Inn S London/Surrey on Friday.

I ordered it in early thinking I'd have to wait

Passthecake30 · 16/05/2023 06:54

Tescos pharmacy near me hasn’t had any for a few weeks but Boots had some, down the same high street.

Floofydawg · 16/05/2023 07:23

I've not had a problem, picked up my latest prescription yesterday (am in Yorkshire).

Battlecat98 · 16/05/2023 19:06

Been told supply issues by pharmacy2u, hopefully available with 14-16 days. It's a nightmare.

WimminsProbs · 20/05/2023 09:43

Lloyd's online has only just released mine (been on order since March) but still waiting for accompanying patches. Local chemist's have had no stock since March. Been prescribed other patches to tide me over but GP said these aren't as safe as the patch/tablet combo.

SilentHedges · 21/05/2023 19:56

Surrey, nothing in my local pharmacy on 12th May. Can't be bothered to keep trapsing around (I'm getting so tired of this) so will try again in a few weeks.

Dooopylally · 10/06/2023 00:00

My pharmacy can't get any and I don't have any left. Will call the GP on Monday as I don't know what to do.

Whataretheodds · 10/06/2023 00:05

I had no issues with my (nhs) prescription. I've got pessaries though, 200 mg.

I also have 3 boxes of applicators (sealed)that I don't need - anyone know if the pharmacy will take them back or anywhere else I can donate them?

LadyVF · 10/06/2023 00:11

I got 2 boxes today just fine - SE London (and 1 pump pack of Oestrogel, which incidentally is giving me the rage. Why does my bloody GP only prescribe 1 pump pack of Oestrogel at a time …. 😖😖)

Appzy · 10/06/2023 00:30

If you can't get utrogestan as there will be intermittent supply issues until end of the year, then medroxyprogesterone or norethisterone would be the recommended alternatives. Both should be in the supply chain as normal.

Dooopylally · 10/06/2023 07:00

Thanks for the tips - wondering about getting the pessary as I really don't fancy a different progesterone tablet with a different set of side effects - maybe will be lucky and the chemist will just get some in. 🤞

MarissaG · 14/06/2023 08:53

I have just changed from oestrogel and utrogestran capsules to patch and mirena coil and will have to throw away (or return to pharmacy actually) the unused ones which seems crazy if there are still supply issues.

Dooopylally · 14/06/2023 17:29

My GP is giving me a prescription for something different, I really don't want to have to take a new type - and maybe swap again when supplies are back up.
I've been on another medication for years, never had any supply issues - 2 years on HRT and each type of it has gone seriously OOS for periods of time.
