Endometrial Biopsy - Very Nervous

Hi all, anyone familiar with having a endometrial biopsy in office.

Very nervous and anxious to have the biopsy in a few days. Since starting perimenopause my anxiety levels have greatly increased.

Was surprised my Dr suggested biopsy after ultrasound showed lining of 5mm.
She also mentioned because I’ve only had a c section it’s possible the biopsy in the office may not work.

I’m still peri at 54 and a bit overweight. No bleeding, just skipped periods. Ultrasound last year lining was 7mm but my cycle started a day later.

I honesty want to cancel the biopsy due to anxiety but my daughter says I’ll just worry more not knowing if all is ok. Thanks for listening.

I've had it done and wasn't pleasant but was over fairly quickly and its really important to check these things out so ultimately its worth. Take some comfort in the notion that it's pretty quick and then done and dusted.

@mksnow I'm guessing from the timing of your post and the use of 'office' that you aren't in the UK? Maybe the US?

I've had this done and it was fine. Just a tiny nip.

However, I'd really question why you need it as you are still having periods.

The lining is still building and shredding during cycles.

What's the logic behind having this done? Why the ultrasound? I think you need some explanation on that.
