HRT & Contraceptive injection

I visited a BUPA meno GP a few months ago and had a very productive consultation re my peri symptoms. She recommended Utrogestan and Oestrogel, which I’m getting on well with.
Today I spoke with my normal GP about a repeat prescription for the above, and also to discuss the contraceptive injection (the only contraception available to me due to my preventative migraine meds - Topiramate and I need progesterone-only due to migraines).
She seemed to think that due to ‘the hormones’ (HRT) I wouldn’t need additional contraception. But I can’t see how this is the case.
But I thought I’d ask you knowledgeable lot for your opinions on this convo / contraception issue?
TIA
