High bp and hrt.

Saw gp today who was happy to start me on hrt but stopped because my bp was too high.

I am overweight and way too sedentary (the hrt was meant to be a kick start to help me get a grip on things). So I guess it's not a massive surprise although it's always been fine before.

It's my bottom number that is high (it's high 80s) and my gp has asked me to measure at home for a week and see if it settles or if I need medication to help. Does anyone know what level it needs to get to before they'll prescribe?

Massive wake up call :(

I'm on HRT and have high blood pressure (which is medicated). Never suggested I stop the HRT. It may be more prudent to take patches or gel for your oestrogen as there isn't a clot risks when then (and uncontrolled high blood pressure would be a risk then too).

Thanks @KatzP. We were going patches anyway.

Fingers crossed it settles.

The health range is a maximum of 120/80 (80 is the bottom figure.)

Blood Pressure UK (charity) has a lot of info online. It includes help on diet and exercise.

Mine is currently hovering over 85 in the day and my doctor was happy to prescribe. They’ve told me to get a BP monitor to check if it changes.
