If Mirena made me flat & anxious, what will HRT do?

I had the Mirena coil for 18mths or so a few years back. I loved the ease of it but gradually made the connection between general low mood and getting quite paranoid just before my period was due each month. As soon as I had it removed, I felt back to being me.
I'm seeing the GP tomorrow and am hoping to be prescribed HRT. I am planning on asking for something other than the Mirena coil but it's suddenly occurred to me that whatever the alternative is is going to be similar to the Mirena coil and might have the same impact.
Has anyone got any experience of this? I'm currently feeling low and as though I've lost any zest for life, have hot flushes, night sweats and brain fog so want to do something but am concerned now that I might keep feeling this flat.

You want to ask for utrogestan which is natural progesterone rather than artificial. I can tolerate that, I refused a Mirena because I couldn't get on with the Pill so thought I'd have the same issue. I have no problems at all with Utrogestan (and oestrogel for the oestrogen bit)

I wouldn't rule out the Mirena. You'd be adding estrogen into the equation which makes a huge difference to my mood.
