Measuring out testogel

SurelyNot22 · 19/04/2023 16:32

I saw a thread a while back on here about this but stupidly didn't bookmark it.

Due to start testogel tomorrow and I've been told 1 sachet = 8 days.
Each sachet has 40mg of gel in it so obviously that's 5mg per day BUT

How do I convert 5mg to ml? Have been told to draw it out of sachet into a syringe but am unsure of the amount.

Google says 5mg = 0.0050ml which didn't make it any clearer for me

Maths is quite clearly not my strong point! Can anyone tell me how many ml of gel I need to get into the syringe each day?

I don’t think you need to be quite that precise, that wasn’t what I was told anyway.

I was advised just to adjust the blob sizes if I run out before my 8 days. I eek it over 10 days now because my levels were slightly high.

Once you start to use it you will get used to the blob size you need and do it by eye.

Thank you, that's good to know, but my .. was really specific about measuring it carefully and I'm sure I read something on here where someone had worked it out!

Am hoping they might be willing to share again...

I also just guess and blob it out!

If your voice deepens use less

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 19/04/2023 17:07

Yup, it's guess-the-blob time. it's irritating that there is no indication anywhere of the volume of gel. My gp suggested using it every other day to make it easier to measure a quarter, but combined with patches twice a week and a pill every night my head exploded.

Roll on the testosterone patch for women.

🤣🤣🤣

I do notice an increase in hair on my favoured thigh so do try and change it up!

I use an old syringe from previous medical treatment (one without a needle). You can remove the plunger, squirt the whole sachet in, and then mark the side of the syringe at regular intervals. It’s never going to be perfect, but it’s close enough.

I’ve just given up testosterone as part of my HRT, literally the only difference is I’m hairier, my libido is still missing in action.

Mine have 2.5g of gel (with 40.5mg of testosterone in that 2.5g).

I use 1ml syringes and then measure out 0.25ml each time. My prescription is use sachet over 10 days. I think most are prescribed using it over 8 days, so more like 0.3ml a day. I don’t get all the gel in the syringes, but I can get an accurate dose for most days. It a bit fiddly but fine.

I’d say my dose is about the size of a small baked bean, if that’s any help. I also bought some finger cots, which are single finger gloves. Then I don’t worry about getting any on my pets or kids.

Thank you both!

My doctor told me it will take 3-6 months to know whether it’s going to restore any/all of my libido. I’ve only just started it, but it sounds like we need to be patient!

Moomin37 · 20/04/2023 20:54

@Doyouthinktheyknow can I join you in the hairy thigh club? 😂

As others have said, you just have to guess and over time you learn the correct amount, although I think I'm probably accidentally under dosing, but I feel better so I'm not too worried!
