Pre hysterectomy HRT?

So I have found Utrogestan in the past very problematic and had to stop it straightaway. However I'm looking at a hysterectomy for very thick womb - adenmyosis - and thinking I should try and find a combo that works for me BEFORE the op.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I want to keep ovaries and cervix ib preference. I have a script for gel and cyclogest. Not sure how different it will be though.

I was on Evorel patches long before I had a hysterectomy. (Fibroids.) Once I knew the surgery was on the cards I gave up on the progesterone part, and just had oestrogen, before and after, upping the dose after.

Best of luck with your op and recovery 🍀

Did you have your cervix removed? This is the bit I've been told may need me to continue on progesterone. Thank you

Yes I decided to have my cervix removed. In fact I had a BSO TH but I didn't want to derail your main question, but happy to discuss!

Is there a reason why the drs say you should keep your cervix? Normally it would be removed.

Were you on HRT before?

I have some signs of adeno and TBH it hasn't got worse on HRT.

One more thing- have you been advised that once you are post-meno you will not suffer with adenomyosis. The same applies to endo. And fibroids.

Unless you are certain you want HRT, why have the op?

Have they not suggested the Mirena coil?

Utro never worked for me had a really bad experience. And then stopped. So not sure how this will go. I just want to keep cervix.. it’s a preference really. I know they like to take it out.

So you have used hrt previously- or still?

Do you want to use hrt ?

Are you post menopause? It seems a big step to have an elective hysterectomy when adenomyosis will stop once your periods stop.

Yes I do for lots of reasons but mainly the hideous anaemia and discomfort and worries about womb cancer

Started gel yesterday and the difference was immediate! But dreading cyclogest
