Hello
Just read on another thread that someone has been given mini pill as part of hrt
I think my body is not reacting well to the coil
I have had migraines since this one was put it but coincided with stressful period in my life so not sure I put it all in context

I am thinking about having coil removed but also worry about contraception - getting pregnant would be a nightmare for me tbh

Another alternative that some people find really helpful is the Depo injection, especially if your worried about getting pregnant as it's more reliable then the mini-pill.

I did try it for a while, wasn't great for me but have hurd some women with migraines find it great if it stops their periods.

Thanks @MigGirl i hadn't thought of depo - I don't know too much about it so will look into it.

I take 2 x desogestrel as the progesterone component of HRT alongside Evorel 50. I was already on one deso as contraception and so went up to two. I'm not really getting on that well since moving to two (headaches) and will probably end up on Mirena.

It's worth pointing out that usage of deso as progesterone HRT is off licence, slightly frowned upon in some quarters and I was told a couple of days ago (by a doctor at National Migraine Centre) that if you need higher oestrogen you can't use 2 deso as the progesterone.

The one advantage of deso is that it stopped my periods within about 10 months. But unfortunately not the hormonal migraines that accompany them.
