Overweight with chronic fatigue

CoQ10 · 03/04/2023 22:18

I'm two stone heavier than I want to be, suffering still from sporadic fatigue, which I think is hormone related.

GP has doubled my oestrogen dose, but three weeks in, and I am still having days where I need to spend most of it in bed.

Last week I exercised on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday was a right off as a result.

I'm starting to get depressed about the weight gain and the fact that I am really struggling to maintain energy levels.

Anyone experienced similar? I'm 50.

I did but was diagnosed with long covid alongside perimenopause. The symptoms are very similar according to the long covid clinic. I’m a lot better than I was a year ago. I used to find that exercise if any sort could put me in bed for a few days then. I hope you start to improve. Try magnesium, vitamin D and B12 supplements.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I think having covid in late 2021 may have triggered peri menopause so I may well be suffering the same.

My GP has suggested this previously, but it isn't clear cut. How did they diagnose you, and what have you done to reduce the fatigue?

Not quite the same but I have a life changing injury which makes excercise hard. The most valuable thing a physio told me was little and often. Start with 5 or 10 mins walking daily for a week and then increase SLOWLY. That way I find I don't end up tired an unable to do anything afterwards which defeats the point.

Have you had your B12 levels tested? Don’t take b12 until tested as you may need injections

I found a guy on Facebook who sorted my chronic fatigue in 12 weeks. Now I'm bouncing around town with too much energy lol

Sounds legit.

Thyroid?

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 26/11/2023 21:05

Agree with Moonshine 5. Get your bloods done and specifically ask doctor to check thyroid, sounds like underactive thyroid which I have and had to keep asking doctor to check thyroid. Also ask for antibodies to be checked. Insist as they like to fob you off. Read up on underactive thyroid symptoms and see if it clicks. Dry skin, hair, losing hair, eyebrows, insomnia, extreme exhaustion like dragging yourself around, nails in bits and periods all over the place. Please get bloods done as soon as you can and hopefully find out if it is thyroid or other deficiencies and you get some answers. Is really difficult when feel so drained and cannot think straight. Look after yourself.
