At the start of this year I upped my HRT dosage to 4 pumps of gel. Previously I was on 75mcg patches but was experiencing the return of some symptoms - poor sleep, joint/muscle aches, mood swings - and the gynae I saw in the past said that as I was only 46 I could up my dosage if I needed to.
All was fine for a couple of months but I've now been bleeding since a week after I started my dose of Utrogestan on 1 March. I'm now on my April dose and even though it isn't heavy, the bleeding hasn't stopped. I also have period-type cramps and feel very tired.
I'm going to try to see the GP this week but has this happened to anyone else? I don't know if I should go cold turkey on the oestrogen or up my Utrogestan to 3 pills a night to see if that will stop the bleeding. In the meantime I've gone back to using the 75mcg patches as I had some left and tbh I prefer them to waiting for the gel to dry.
I've heard that breakthrough bleeding is to be expected in the first few months of HRT use but I've been on it nearly 2 years now!
