Well this morning, I've just bought my PPC online and been up to collect my prescription. I was asked if I paid for my prescriptions and I told the assistant I had a PPC. She just ticked a box on her machine and that was that. Didn't even need to show it, I assume all the checks are done by computer, behind the scenes.

I took out a years prepayment prescription last year that I use for HRT and regular dermatology creams. I guess for me it’s worth just continuing that?

It depends on how often you get the creams.

If it’s only every few months then it’s probably cheaper to get the HRT ppc and pay for the creams on top. If it’s more than once a month you’d be better off sticking with the general PPC.

I think it’s two creams every two/three months.

I've just collected my first batch. I may have insisted on showing the pharmacist the certificate 🤣

Do you have to print it off or can you show it on the NHS app or something?

Whaeanui · 06/04/2023 20:38

You get an email and I showed that

WhereAreWeNow · 06/04/2023 21:44

Thanks @Whaeanui

"can you show it on the NHS app" - yes, this would, of course, be the most obvious, sensible solution.

But no. Of course not. This involves NHS IT systems which are still in the twentieth century!

I screenshot it and they accept that.

This is great timing. I have been buying a 3m pre payment twice a year, then getting two lots in each one with a 3m gap. Each "lot" is estrogen, progesterone and estrogen cream. I've not looked yet but I suspect the cream won't be covered.

I also get migraine tablets.

My current pre payment cert runs out next week and I've just ordered all four prescriptions so I'm good til July (barring the migraines, because I don't really get enough tablets and have to order again or buy some).

We get three prescriptions a year paid by work. So I'll use those for the migraine tablets and use the new cert from July for the HRT.

I'll need to update my spreadsheet!

FluffyHamster · 07/04/2023 12:23

I use an app called Stocard to store copies of all my loyalty / library/ membership cards and I saved a screen shot of it to that.

ClaudiaCustard · 07/04/2023 15:24

I just collected my prescription and they didn't want to see it. Just asked me if I paid for the prescription and I said 'no' and before I could explain that I had a HRT ppc, she'd just passed it to me

WhereAreWeNow · 18/04/2023 13:16

I just got my certificate and picked up my prescription and can't believe how easy it was. Also amazed they has my Estrodot in stock. What a relief.

Moomin37 · 23/06/2023 12:20

The irony that the second time I need to use my certificate no pharmacies seem to have any stock of the products I need. Never known it this bad in the two years I've been on HRT. Hope other people are having more luck than me!

WhereAreWeNow · 23/06/2023 19:23

I had to try a few pharmacies @Moomin37 .Got it in the end. And they didn't even ask me for money or to see my certificate. Didn't even ask if I had a certificate. They just handed it over.

VanGoghsDog · 24/06/2023 19:19

I'm glad I'll be able to get the certificate next month (when I next order) because my GP has increased my prescription, but rather than having one prescription for 1.5mg of estrogen, I now have one for 1mg and one for .5mg.

Plus the progesterone and the cream, that is four prescriptions every three months.

I love how the shortages mean we had to have reduced prescription lengths, so basically women are paying for the shortages. My GP has never voluntarily reviewed my prescription, I asked her to last week. She's also never weighed me or taken my blood pressure.
