Sorry, it long!

I've started a few threads on my mental health, not sure how to link them. Basically I had a breakdown October 21 and been breaking down ever since.
Crippling anxiety, palpitations ALL day no matter what I'm doing and insomnia, very close to suicide a few times. This past year and a half has been the worst of my life.

Seems like my experience is more common than I realised.

I am convinced it is peri, I tried the Oestrogel and the Utrogestan at the beginning of last year for 2 months and because I was still having regular as clockwork periods and I didn't think it was helping so I stopped.

Tried many, MANY Ad's, months and months of wanting to die and no improvement.
I have settled on one now and feel a bit brighter. Still have to take Amitriptyline and Zopiclone for any sort of sleep.
I also started back on the gel and the progesterone, I am on my third month. For the most part I feel better but the palpitations and insomnia are horrific. I have tried splitting the gel to 2 pumps am, 2 pm, tried 4 pumps am, I'm still getting palpitations all of the time. I have tried progesterone orally and vaginally.

I can't work out what to do next.

I am having therapy, walking the dog and generally tying to help myself but these palpitations are driving me insane.

Any help would be much appreciated.

@Misskittycat16 hey, noticed you mentioned a good probiotic. Apparently there's one that lots are raging about atm. Spring Valley, probiotic with digestive enzymes. Just thought i'd drop that in. Im also trying to sort out my gut health. I keep on top of the exercise but my diet is haywire!

Misskittycat16 · 31/03/2023 17:55

@SamR36 ah thank you. I will take a look. Yeah it's hard isn't it. At least you are doing the exercise, that in itself takes a lot of discipline (of which I have none 🙄)
It is slowly registering in my brain that I need to sort this area of my life out otherwise I'm just repeating the same pattern.

@Matchingcollarandcuffs - thank you! Yes it's quite a surprise that these can affect you so much.

I am trying to persevere.

On the food fronts I've made some change so far this year and some of the results have been quite stark.

I have got Into home made green smoothies which somehow has absolutely and instantly curbed my caffeine addiction!

Soaked goji berries have stolen my sweet tooth.

Homemade fermented food has also helped (that's a prebiotic by the way). I have a really busy life. A busy job, study, teenagers, disabled partner who I care for. Honestly these changes have been sustainable. I've put no pressure on myself at all.

Maybe just choose something to start with and I think from my list above it looks like adding something and just seeing what happens, is more effective than cutting something out eg carbs, alcohol, sugar.

@stilldumdedumming Recipe for your green smoothies please, and tell us more about the soaked berries please? All sounds amazing!

stilldumdedumming · 02/04/2023 20:26

@TheCentreSlide sorry busy day.

The berries is easiest. Goji berries (you buy them dried from supermarkets). Put them in an airtight jar or tub with enough water to cover them). Keep them in a fridge. Ideally use them up in around 5 days so only soak as many as you need. You can put them on Salads, on porridge - anything really.
I put some ginseng tincture in the water.
I have found a noticeable impact on my sweet tooth. I have no idea if it's the ginseng or the berries???

And the smoothie recipe is this one. I wasn't ever thinking this would replace my coffee love, I just noticed it had! But I do put a mixture of green powders in too. My friend did the mix for me and I know it includes spirulina and chlorella. Again I've no idea whether that makes any difference? As with all these things, I suppose we just try things and try to pay attention to the effect.
