Headache when I change oestrogen patch

I've been using Evorel 50 patches for 14 months for perimenopause symptoms, changing them every four days. I've noticed that I get a headache every time I change my patch. Is this a common side effect or could it be an indication that my dosage/frequency of changes needs to be tweaked?

I've booked a review meeting with my GP to discuss my treatment but I would like to have an idea what to ask for as they seem pretty clueless about what to do about menopause. They flat refused to prescribe micronised progesterone because they said it would be "too complicated" for me and made me have a Mirena instead.

I been on estrogen for 11 years in a pill form and today changed to Evorel patch and omg I have got a horrible headache , do you know if they last.

Headaches are associated with high estrogen so I guess it makes sense that estrogen is highest when you put a new patch on. Sorry, that doesn't help you much!

Mine went away when I was put up to a higher dose. Maybe I was getting a dip in oestrogen level before changing patches and now it's less pronounced.

I took mine off yesterday afternoon and this so far no headache, think maybe cause I have been using 2mg of estrogen in a pill form for 11 years it maybe a bit too much of a hit, tomorrow I will try cutting the 50 in half and see if that's better

I was on 2mg estrogen only pill and last month I to changed to a patch 50mg and I started on half a patch and for a week or 2 i was fine then my symptoms started to come back so I put on a 50mg and last week I started to go down hill, started to feel miserable then really depressed untill last Sunday OMG I was do bad I wanted to cry, I took the patch off, and today feeling better, really dunno why. Got the meno nurse ringing 2moz and going to see what she says, people are saying its my body getting use to it and I need a higher dose but I couldnt go on feeling like that, how are you now on half a patch. I dont want to go back on the pill but half a patch (25) wasnt enough and so was I not giving the 50 enough time !!

What are your symptoms?

Well for the last week I have been feeling very miserable, very low, not cut up and go, just wanted to cry and last Sunday it was very bad, head was out of sorts, no headache really just very depressed, since I removed the 50mg patch feeling a bit better, dunno if I should of removed it but I now the half a patch wasn't enough.

Did the patch have progesterone in? Sometimes it can be that not the oestrogen. Also it may have been too low a dose.
