Coil removal

My Mireya coil is due to be removed - I'm 55 and had it in for 5 years. Wondering if I will notice any difference? I tried oestrogen only HRT (gel and patches) and didn't get on with it at all. I know the coil provides progesterone - will my body miss it?

At your age I had another Mirena inserted for HRT. Later on I switched from Mirena to progesterone tablets. But I’m using patches at the same time.

Hi thanks I'm not sure I can face having another one. Just wondering if there is any downside to not having one - assuming I'm not using oestrogen as well. I know you do need it if you are.

I had mine removed by gynecoligst because she assumed I had to be menopausal and then started having periods again. Wish I'd never had it out.
Didn't stop having periods until I was 58.
Now on Oestrogel and Utogestran because the doctor couldn't get a new mirena inserted, possibly due to fibroids.

I've had mines in for more than 10 years. I would probably have had it removed earlier but Covid has kept me away from smear tests and other opportunities to speak to the practice nurse. I'm sure by now it's not doing much for me, I'm 56, but I think it protected me from the worst effects of the menopause

Hi, I have been feeling really ill for the past few months. I get a weird feeling down below inside my bladder or vagina and I feel really tired and shaky. Also feel like crying. I’ve had blood tests and the camera inside but nothing found. I wondered if when your coming to the end of your mirena coil, can it be that where the progesterone is running out. I am 51 by the way and still having periods
