Four months on HRT and breasts growing

I’m on two pumps of Oestrogel and continuous Utrogestan and I’m wondering if I need to adjust the dose as my breasts are growing every month!
When I started HRT back in October last year, I was a 34b and I’ve just been measured today and they say I’m a 30g!
The bra they sold me fits well and is comfortable but it’s huge, it’s making me very self conscious as well.
Should I reduce the Oestrogel?

I've been on HRT for 8 years and haven't gained weight BUT I had a full hysterectomy so that might make a difference?

mizu · 20/03/2023 12:41

One pump on each thigh each day.......starting to think I need more. Menopausal symptoms still around but come and go.

PlainSkyr · 20/03/2023 12:57

Would it help to try the Mirena instead of utrogestan?

SamR36 · 20/03/2023 13:52

I dont agree with being over weight means bigger boobs. Ive always been top heavy at a healthy weight, size 8-10, now a 10-12, my boobs have always been 34E, 34F.. My friend classes herself as over weight and flat chested.
So Not always the case.

@JinglingSpringbells I imagine there's a fair bit in what you say. My additional weight comes off my tummy and waist first, my bust and thighs only when I'm slim. Also of course if youve been overweight then presumably you have fat cells waiting to fatten up again. And it will go where these are.

stilldumdedumming · 20/03/2023 13:55

@SamR36 I imagine there's quite a lot of variation

One thing with the hrt tho, at my age my boobs had deflated a bit and also I have breastfed. Now they are full and boingy again. But sadly, massive and matronly.

Passerillage · 20/03/2023 14:02

I'm on Evorel patches (month 3 now) and very excited about this - my very tiny boobs feel like they might be very very slightly fuller? I'd love another cup size or two. I've lost weight because I've been actively dieting and working out to get back to 55kg, so there's definitely no HRT weight gain involved. I'm mid-40's and peri. I have a brand new Mirena, hense the oestrogen only hrt.

TheDogsMother · 20/03/2023 14:26

Mine turned into a matronly 'shelf' but I got fatter all over since starting HRT. I have battled to get it off again and am nearly there so boobs now normal again. As a previous poster comment - skin is lovely, hair is thinning and horrible.

Maybe we're talking about different things.

Slim women can have big boobs. Overweight women can have small(er) boobs.

But post menopause boobs change. I think it's the glandular tissue that is lost and fatty tissue replaces it. So if women put weight on post meno their boobs do tend to get bigger too.

Oops- sorry- that was for @SamR36 !

@PlainSkyr someone else suggested the Mirena coil but I’m worried about the pain of having it fitted. My recent smear was agony so think the coil would be intolerable.

I'm not on any HRT and my boobs having been getting bigger year on year. If I hear any young woman moaning about having small boobs I'd tell them to be careful what you wish for. I was that 30A young woman many years ago

Have you got the weight off despite hrt? Well done! 🙌

TheDogsMother · 21/03/2023 01:00

@MintTeaAndChocolate Thank you ! It was about 1.25 stones which isn't a big number but I'm short, it really showed on me and my clothes were either too tight or not fitting. I've got a stone of it off now but it's taken a while.

Everything I read prior to starting HRT there was no mention of weight gain but a few women on here seem to have experienced it.

I faint when I have smears, and was very worried about having a coil fitted. Took me a couple of years to build up the courage. However, it really didn't hurt at all, was very quick, and I am very happy with the results! Highly recommend!

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 21/03/2023 08:22

Yes I gave up her due to this as my boobs were big anyway

I felt so matronly. I hated it.

Also after coming off they never really went back to Pre meno size.

I've had a reduction now and it's the best thing ever.
