i know i know, you people say you shouldnt use these tests but i just wanted to put my mind at ease but instead made it worse :(

a bit of background, im 22. recently come down with a cold and been getting hot flushes and i assumed i had a temperature, but i didnt. i know early menopause can happen so i wanted to put my mind at rest and ordered these tests but they came back positive. im so worried because i wanted more children. im 10 months postpartum, had 5 periods since 3 that were regular and now im 2 months late. another reason why i was worried.

im booking in with my gp but i know they wont take me seriously because im ‘too young’ :( i feel so upset and disheartened. needed a vent

Go and see your GP but if you're only 10 months PP these tests probably aren't accurate. Are you breastfeeding/when did you stop bf?

elga2 · 13/03/2023 13:45

@YukoandHiro theyve booked me in for next friday :) im not breastfeeding i breastfed for around 2 weeks so thats not the reason for my irregular periods… feel so worried and scared idk what to feel

As PP said, you're only 10 months postpartum so I wouldn't trust the tests. It takes over a year for your hormones to regulate after giving birth.

I'm not meaning to be disrespectful, I am genuinely asking, do you suffer from anxiety/health anxiety?
As you're 22, it's very unlikely to be menopause and having hot flushes is indicative of a lot of things so jumping straight to early menopause is quite extreme.

elga2 · 13/03/2023 17:26

@IHateLegDay i take absolutely no disrespect at all dont worry :) im not sure why, but i suffer very badly with anxiety and health anxiety. me and my partner have both recognised it so i definitely need to talk to someone about it. i noticed i got this way after giving birth so im guessing it’s because of that and bringing a baby into this world. i know its extreme to think its early menopause but it just seems to match my symptoms, is all

Definitely speak to your dr about struggling with anxiety as they'll be able to start off any support.
I know it's difficult (I suffered with HA for years) but try not to dwell on it or google it.
Wait to see what the drs say xx

If it's any consolation I did one of these about 5 years ago when I was TTC which was positive.

I was so worried. Went to the Dr, has the usual blood tests (including FSH) and all was fine. So what I'm trying to say is the tests can't be trusted.

The hot flushes are probably because you're not feeling well.

Defo worth chatting with the GP XX
