If hormonal birth control wasn't for you, how is HRT?

Those of you that found hormonal bc had too many unpleasant side effects, how did you find HRT?
When I was younger I used various different bc tablets, pop, combined and different brands of each and I didn't like the effect they had on my mood and body.
I'm approaching the point where I think HRT would be appropriate and I'm worried about it being as unpleasant as bc. I have aura migraines too so I assume that will limit my options.

Interesting question. I found that being on the pill lessened my libido, and hrt has done the same.

Hrt has also caused weight gain and bloating- I never experienced this on the pill.

Hrt has definitely helped my hormonal migraines, though.

I'm due a review soon and am trying to weigh up the pros and cons.

Sorry, nothing useful to add but here to follow. I had an awful time on bc and it has put me off trying HRT.

Terrible problems with progesterone implant; minimal problems with HRT (including daily progesterone).

I came off HRT after a year. I was advised to be on it until at least 50 following my hysterectomy but not only did it appear not to help, it massively affected my weight and mental health.

@Honoraryuce it's not possible to compare the two.

The Pill and all birth control is made from synthetic forms of estrogen and progesterone.

HRT is body-identical = the hormones are made to be exactly the same (molecular) as our own.
