Low Vit D, tingling, migraines, higher cholesterol?

Just wondered if anyone else out there has had some odd issues. I am probably going through peri menopause, or menopause, aged 52 for a few years. Finding it all a bit weird. Can anyone else relate?

  • I had weird tingling and electric shock symptoms on and off (was a bit scared it was MS but got sent for MRI etc and all clear as yet)
  • Vitamin D was so low, extremely deficient, had to have prescribed boosting Vit D and seemed to help above symptoms.
  • Cholesterol would go from 6 to 7.5 and nearly put on statins but managed to keep it around 6, still not great.
  • Migraines I’ve always had, heard they might reduce but no sign yet. Sometimes they get worse!
  • Libido is fine (although partner decided to leave me… thanks!)
  • Periods sometimes every 2 months. Sometimes a gap of 5 months!
  • No hot flushes. Sometimes feel hormonal but nothing terrible.

What an odd menopause! Is it worth still investigating HRT or is that really alleviating symptoms?

High cholesterol can be an age issue , because it can be linked to being overweight, less exercise, poor diet, but unless you've had it checked before, it could have have been high(ish) all your life (and can be hereditary.)

Migraine can get worse or better in peri. (Mine have almost gone, post meno, as they were hormonal and even on HRT they don't seem to be as frequent.)

Doubt that low Vit D is to do with meno as men an get that too ( low Vit D) in fact they say loads of people have it and don't know.

There is some evidence that HRT can reduce unhealthy lipids ( Low density cholesterol).

Not sure what you mean by hrt alleviating symptoms ? That's what it does but not ones that affect men as well as women (which is what you are getting- low Vit D and high cholesterol.)
