Best supplements if no HRT?

I’m 51, no periods for 6 months now. Have had a spell of hot flushes and night sweats but none at the moment. Mood ok. Some aches at times but better if I keep moving. Some forgetfulness. Not too bad overall. What supplements/vitamins have you found most useful?

Not sure I understand why you would want to use vits and supplements if you are ok?

Nothing can replace estrogen, so if you want to gain the long term benefits and to relieve short term symptoms, nothing much else works.

You don't need more vitamins and supplements if you eat a healthy diet. We only need tiny amounts of these and no one ought to need extra unless they are a restricted diet, unable to eat normal fresh, healthy food. Any extra is just excreted- your body doesn't like 'extra'!

Vit D - NHS suggests for everyone over the winter months.

No vitamins or supplements can replace oestrogen. Only oestrogen replaces oestrogen, as @JinglingSpringbells says.

Everything you need, you can get from a decent diet.

If you feel okay, leave well alone I say. Unbalanced hormones can be brutal and you will soon know if you require any assistance.

I had awful reactions to HRT patches, gels and pills so had to stop using them. Sea buckthorn has helped a lot with the dry eyes, itchy skin and ears etc. I also take Menserene supplements from Healthspan. I've been on these about 2 years now and I'd say my symptoms have been fairly mild.

I seem to be getting on great with vaginal oestrogen too. It's not classes as HRT as it's a small localised dose, but I'm feeling so much more comfortable!

Lots of my friends rave about flaxseed oil too.
