Help! Evorel patches query

I’ve been peri menopausal since late 30s. Up until recently Femoston 2/10 was working well for me. It stopped working though in recent months and I eventually managed to get a GP appointment where I was switched to patches. I finished femoston cycle tonight and went to get the patches and discovered that (a) no patient leaflet was included and (b) I’ve only been given Evorel conti patches. This doesn’t seem right as surely they’re only for post menopausal women? I have no idea how regular my periods would be after a few years of being on Femoston tablets, but they were still fairly regular before I started on them. And I still have my uterus. Any advice? Can’t believe I’ll have to face trying to reach my GP for goodness knows how long to get further advice and check the prescription is correct…… 😫

I'm peri and on evorel conti. I think its normal for people still having periods. There should be a leaflet clearly, it's the law

Thanks, I had found and read it already. Still confused about why I’ve been prescribed conti patches though…….I was in such a state at my GP appt, anxious and sleep-deprived, and wondering what info I might have missed. Or this is a mistake by the pharmacist.

So you only take evorel conti and nothing else? Ok, that makes me feel a bit better, thanks. Were you on tablets before then - did you leave a break between finishing tablets and starting on patches?

Conti are a combination patch so you get two weeks of oestrogen only and two weeks of progesterone and oestrogen. My periods were few and far between before I started and I now get a withdrawal bleed most months. Which is annoying but I understand part of the process so I put up with it for the benefits! Hope you get on well.

In case you have issues with soreness or lack of stickiness, try putting tattoo dressing on top of the patches. It’s a really thin film that seals the patch on so it doesn’t get water under it which can make the skin sore.

My box says Evorel Sequi on the front and has 4x Evorel50 and 4x Evorel Conti inside. I am still having a bleed on them and was having (irregular) periods before starting them

I did try patches with a separate progesterone tablet but I prefer the all in one element of these - easier than remembering to take the tablet half the time! My memory is terrible these days

BigPussyEnergy · 18/02/2023 22:46

Oh sorry - I was thinking conti was the split product but as Pp says, that’s Sequi. The conti ones must be all with progesterone. Not sure why that’s a benefit?

My understanding is that sequi is the two weeks of oestrogen only and two weeks combined oestrogen and progesterone? All of the conti patches I’ve been given contain both? whereas the tablets I was on were 2 weeks oestrogen only, then 2 weeks of combined.

Yes, that’s what I think I should have been given, but instead have 8 conti patches….
