Scalp biopsy for hair loss?

I have been on hrt, 2 pumps oestrogel and utrogestan for 10 months and have recently been having a lot of hair loss, particularly at the front of my scalp. My dermatologist has suggested doing 2 scalp biopsies but I am anxious about this as it will leave 2 little areas of permanent scarring and my hair loss is so bad already. Has anyone had scalp biopsies done for hair loss? Do they show anything? Have had bloods done, everything seems normal.

How ‘normal’ are your bloods? Normal isn’t the same as optimal.
Drs regularly say ferritin is normal at 15..20..22 but it needs to be above 70 to support hair growth.
Low (as in lower end of normal rather than upper end of normal) B12 and Vitamin D can also cause thinning hair.

I did know someone who’s hair went so thin she just had wispy strands left all over her head and had to wear a wig. She saw a trichologist, had several blood tests, had B12 injections and goodness knows what else and, after several months, went back to having a full head of hair. I’d see a trichologist before having a biopsy.

Thanks, I know "normal" is quite a broad range. Obviously something is off. I am inclined to blame the hrt since I had no hair loss previously but it could be coincidence and I need to stay on hrt, if I can, due to osteoporosis. I will look into seeing a trichologist, hate the idea of the scalp biopsies.

In the meantime, some shampoos like Plantur ( a caffeine shampoo) can work.

I had one in 2014 and I can't see a difference and I have severe Androgenetic alopecia. Hair loss is shit. It's eaten away at my self confidence so much.
