For the past year or so I have got incredibly bloated, really painful. I was on mirena+ oestradiol but mirena didn't work so came off everything, then went onto utrogestan+oestradiol and didn't ovulate for months but rn I've got the period from FUCKING HELL honestly I am bleeding so bad, plus my abdomen is really swollen and EVERYTHING HURTS. Is this normal??! It's just so awful that I can't stop thinking something is really wrong with me, but I've got to get up for work in a few hours. Aaargh. At what point do you start worrying it is something else? I no longer know. It's been so long since I just felt ok. I am so fucked and knackered and in pain I don't know what to do.

Have you seen a doctor? If not then you should do. I don't know what the cause is but women do need to be pushy about investigations into period changes and bloating - possible peri or not.

Am sorry you're suffering :(

If you have to be worried about something, with bloating and pain, I'd be more concerned about ovarian cancer. I'd get a pelvic and abdominal scan done. Chances are you're fine but best to make sure.

Fraaahnces · 13/02/2023 03:01

You ABSOLUTELY need to see a doctor. Why are you wasting time on here?

TreesAtSea · 13/02/2023 10:27

I have family experience of a similar situation.

See a doctor asap and don't be fobbed off with anyone saying it's just bloating, menopausal weight gain etc. And demand to be physically examined, i.e. don't settle for someone just "examining" or diagnosing you with their eyes.

If you can't get an appointment straight away, go to A&E.

Yes you need to go to doctors and ask for a scan. It may be fibroids.

watcherintherye · 13/02/2023 10:52

Experience of similar with a relative. Went on for months, but eventually got put on the fast track cancer pathway for tests and scans. Long story short, she’s clear, but still having really draining symptoms, which are being put down to combination of peri, hiatus hernia and GORD, which she’s now on medication for, but still not right.
I would start the ball rolling asap, as it can be a long haul. Flowers I feel for you, and hope you get it sorted soon.

See a doctor. Push for a pelvic scan. If he more concerned about ovarian rather than bowel cancer.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 13/02/2023 11:17

Go to the doctors. Don't worry too much in the meantime, it really could be anything (eg adenomyosis) but does need looking into.

OrangeKnot · 13/02/2023 12:02

Hey OP, I too had these symptoms and for me it was just hormonal skulduggery. I truly thought something hideous was going on, menopause for me has been a brutal experience. Best to get it checked out, be prepared to go private tho, the wait for a scan was 18 months in my affluent part of the woods.

gamerchick · 13/02/2023 12:07

My periods have turned into that as well. Before that they were bang on, 3 days and bearable. Now it's 5 days of wanting to crawl into bed and stay there wailing with massive pads. Wanting to sleep constantly in the week before hand, whenever they feel like showing up. Awful.

Who the fuck would want to be a woman. This shit sucks.

OrangeKnot · 13/02/2023 12:18

@gamerchick This! It’s absolute bollox, isn’t it, completely crap.
