Coming off hrt and coil

Runaround50 · 04/02/2023 16:22

I feel I'm just not benefiting from hrt, so have decided to come off it (patch )

I have a Mirena coil fitted. Will it be okay in situ without oestrogen? I don't want to have it removed right now, in case I feel worse than I do already and need to go back on the oestrogen.

Thanks

I have a Mirena for heavy periods. It’s ok being left there

KangarooKenny · 04/02/2023 16:24

Can i ask why you’re coming off it ? I’m trying to avoid going on it , so interested to know why it’s not working for you.

Runaround50 · 04/02/2023 16:34

It's just not addressing any of my symptoms @KangarooKenny. Sleep is shocking, moods up and down,. Just can't get the dose right. I've tried gel patch tablets and spray with no avail

Have you looked into magnesium for sleep ? It helps me. I also have the very occasional antihistamine if I need it.

KangarooKenny · 04/02/2023 16:36

If you find the cure for moods please let me know. I’m so very angry at the moment.

Runaround50 · 04/02/2023 16:54

Well I'm looking at cannabis oil right now. Not entirely ethical or legal but hey ho!

What magnesium do you use ?

OP posts:
KangarooKenny · 04/02/2023 17:10

I have a couple of Epsom salt baths a week, two handfuls of the salts and soak for 20 minutes.
The magnesium I currently take is L-Threonate, good for sleep and meno brain as it crosses the blood brain barrier. My word recall has improved some since taking it.
However it’s recommended you take 500mg a day and I’m not getting that much, so I’m looking at adding in another one.
Careful which you take as some of it is used as a laxative.

CBD oil is legal here in the U.K.

amonsteronthehill · 04/02/2023 17:19

I'm sorry it's not working for you. I'm on Evorel Sequi and will fight tooth and nail to stay on them forever if that's what it takes. Nipped all my symptoms in the bud and provide protection against Osteoporosis which runs strongly in my family.

Runaround50 · 04/02/2023 17:21

@KangarooKenny I may try Epsom salts then.

Yes CBD oil ( with a bit extra of the thc)

Hi OP - For sleep have you tried cutting down/out alcohol? I have been sleeping terribly too and about to try HRT but have cut out alcohol for last 3 months and sleep is much improved. I still wake up multiple times during the night - but I go back to sleep almost straight away instead of staying away worrying.

Runaround50 · 04/02/2023 17:30

@OldKingCole I don't even drink, so nothing to cut down on. Caffeine is minuscule each morning and nothing after 12. It's all so frustrating!

I found stopping alcohol helped my sleep, and stopped the associated night time sweats.
