Have my periods ended for good?!

I’m 46 - periods have been regularly irregular for about 3.5 years now (eg 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 3, 5, 4 etc) but now I’ve had nothing since October. Nothing at all - no spotting, discharge, nothing. Also getting major hot flushes on a daily (& nightly 😭) basis but other than that nothing else has changed. Is that it for my periods? Is this the end? Or could they still come back at this stage? I know to be truly menopausal it’s a year but this is quite a long gap now. (I’m not pregnant btw!)

Anyone has a long gap like this for them to come back again? Or can I pass all my tampons onto the kids finally?!

Is it true once the hot flashes start your periods will stop?

I've been regular as clockwork, but nothing this month and I've started boiling up like a kettle day and night.
Or is it a coincidence?

@MrsDrDear for me that was the start of my first big gap x I had been regular as clockwork then missed almost three periods and was burning up mostly of a night x my monthy has come bang on time this month so hard to say what will happen for you next i i have read a few people on here saying that theirs stopped completely but for most it' seems to become irratic first x

Thanks @Sleepybear1234 thought it was too good to be true!

Sleepybear1234 · 24/02/2023 18:22

@MrsDrDear Oh I know 😃 I wish mine would do one for good

I am 52, Mine stopped for 8 months then started again. I'm so annoyed.

Sleepybear1234 · 24/02/2023 20:22

@sleepingbuddha oh no what a nightmare 😢

47 and mine stopped completely for ten months and I was praying that would be it. The last three months, however, I've had light spotting for a few days each month but my hot flushes disappeared. Waiting to see what happens next month as my hot flushes have just started up again but I'm almost there I think...

I'm 56 and I'm still having very light periods every 6 months.

Mine were very regular until 52, albeit much heavier and much shorter each month, and lots of mood swings. At 52 they stopped completely. I bloody loved it, but they came back six months later, it lasted ten days, same again the following month. Then stopped again for another six months, reappearing as a flood at a time when I really could’ve done without it! That lasted three weeks. Then it’s all stopped again - three months again so far. The sooner they’re done the better imo! I’m finding the menopause end of peri much better than full on peri.

Yes I had a couple of long gaps towards the end - can't recall exactly how long now - then one last period which was absolutely horrendous (back pain, felt like death, much heavier than they'd been for years).

I don't think there's necessarily a pattern though - I had every possible variation - very light, heavy, shorter gaps, long gaps etc. I had no idea what to expect for several years.
