If you can't have oestrogen because of breast cancer... can you have testosterone?

Or is that still a bad idea?

You can get testosterone gel prescribed privately

I think it's a bit more complicated than that. The women I know of who use testosterone had to be on HRT first, as if you have testosterone on its own, I think (and I may be wrong) that the body converts it to estrogen or something like that.

You need to see a specialist who works with women who have had cancer.

Can you access that?

Thanks @JinglingSpringbells that's helpful info 👍

I have had breast cancer and am not on HRT but testosterone was appropriate for me. I did see a hormone specialist who works with women who have had cancer. My cancer was hormone receptive and I have been advised that I will be able to take some forms of HRT under close supervision. I was unable to get testosterone on the NHS. I wasn’t suggesting it was simple, just saying what I know is possible.
