Shingles

I'm 46 and have had shingles in the past after major surgery. About ten years ago. It feels like it is back.

I wondered if others had had Shingles around this age as well. It says online it can be more common around the menopause.

One of the things my GP found when I first had it was I had low vitamin D.

Shingles rash now seems to have appeared on the side of my face. I'm 46. Someone from the GPs is going to ring as might need the antivirals.

I also have a GP appt on the phone this evening so will ask about any underlying things as in the past had low ferritin and vitamin d. Maybe they will check thyroid too. Then might ask about HRT but maybe need another appt for that.

I checked online and it says shingles can be lined with the transition to menopause. Great. It's so painful into the jaw, also having pain in my back and so so tired.

How are you feeling now OP? I've had shingles and know just how painful it is. On your face too! God. Did you get the anti virals?

Those anti virals are the BIZ. I’ve had shingles 3 times, so know your pain, OP.
Hope they kick in soon…

I have been taking the antivirals now 5 times a day for 3 days and think they are working.

The back pain which has been there for ages is improving and also the pain in my throat, jaw and ear. However I am having more pain in the area of the cheekbone and hoping this doesn't go into my eye.

This sounds quite like trigeminal neuralgia flare. Mine started when going through peri menopause, i swear it was all hormone related. I was put on anticonvulsants for it. Also have had a few shingle flare ups, the pain is quite the same. I went on hrt which made the pain worse! I was hoping that balancing my hormones would have helped, it didnt for me, but it may work for you, worth a try.
