When does the peri meno crying stop?

I've been on patches and now utrogestan for three weeks.

Night sweats have gone which is great.

But I wonder how long I need to wait until I don't feel like I'm on the brink of tears or actually crying all the time?

I feel so desolate some days. Weekends are worse, I can't wait for them to arrive because I'm so tired and then I spend the whole weekend worrying and feeling sick and feeling teary.

The weekdays are better as I'm busy at work and with the children/school runs so I don't have time to dwell on things.

I tried Headspace years ago, it did nothing for me. I exercise daily and fresh air and pretty healthy diet.

What are other people's experiences?

About three months after starting HRT.

Do you think you could be depressed?

Do you think you could be depressed?

@NameChangedForThissss it's crossed my mind, but I'm up at the larks to exercise and I'm very motivated at work.

I am always clean and presentable when I need to be, so work and school runs. I couldn't bear the idea of Lyng in. But I go to bed the minute I'm able to. Last night 8pm.

I dread sitting around watching TV I get nothing from it but I'm too tired for anything else.

But maybe I need to fix that three month date in my head and focus on it!

And thank you for replying.

I feel the same way as when I took the contraceptive pill.

@Dogsgottabone I was told 3 months to get the full effect by the nurse practitioner who prescribed it. She said after the 3 months, tweaking if still having symptoms. I only started last week but am desperate for the night hot flushes to subside, can I ask how quickly that was for you?

Dogsgottabone · 29/01/2023 14:19

@vjg13 my night sweats have disappeared. During the cold weather in December I was sleeping in the spare room (massive windows, no double glazing, ice on the inside every morning) as I couldn't bear to be in our bedroom where the radiator had been on until 8pm.

Now I can sleep in pj's and socks again when it's cold which is a joy.

They stopped pretty much immediately.

@Dogsgottabone That sounds great, I hope my body responds quickly too! Ice on the inside of the window pane takes me back to growing up!

Fingers crossed you get some relief soon.

HRT zapped my night sweats almost at once and helped a lot with crying within the first couple of months. Barely dented my rage reactions - and I eventually clicked I have some psychological issues to sort out as well. Joy.
