Is there someone in the know that can shed light on this? Will it happen in April?

"A single annual prepayment of £18.70 for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) prescriptions will be introduced in April 2023, the pharmacy minister has said. The scheme was first announced in October 2021 and promises potential savings of up to £205 by enabling women to pay one charge for a 12-month supply of HRT."

Thanks!

Interesting - I bought a pre-payment certificate last month on the basis of how many prescriptions I'll likely need in a year; this would change things.

Twattergy · 25/01/2023 17:21

Anyone got an update???
Yes @TheFeistyFeminist my 3 month prepayment is finishing soon so I would normally buy a year's pre paid but I won't if this happens in April!!!

This is the latest info I can find

RudsyFarmer · 25/01/2023 17:39

I know they were discussing this but I didn’t know if it would actually happened. I too bought a year prepayment certificate so I’ll probably lose some money but I’m awfully glad it will help women in the long run.

Hmm, still due April 2023 "subject to consulation with necessary bodies" which sounds like a way of kicking it down the line, to me. Info here.

The Sun newspaper(I know, I know) seems very sure it is going ahead. Today's article here

Twattergy · 25/01/2023 20:18

Thanks @NeverTooLateToSing I didn't expect The Sun to be the most on top of reporting this issue, but it looks like there has been progress literally today! Let's hope it is accurate. It concerned me that the most recent coverage I could find on it was all from March 22...fingers crossed!

Brilliant news. Does anyone know how it will work? Is the certificate something I can ask my GP for or the pharmacist? Or do you do it on the NHS website?

Artisticpaint · 22/02/2023 07:58

It’s really looking like the Tories have identified women’s issues as a vote winner.

WhereAreWeNow · 22/02/2023 08:00

I've found the answer to my question. Looks like we'll have to apply on an NHS website or we'll be able to get it at some pharmacies. Sounds like pharmacists aren't keen on the scheme psnc.org.uk/our-news/dhsc-announces-rollout-of-hrt-prescription-prepayment-certificate/

vjg13 · 22/02/2023 14:09

@WhereAreWeNow it would just be like buying a pre payment certificate now, a quick form and online payment I would imagine.
