No period for 11 months and I have started bleeding today!! Does this mean I need to wait for it to stop and then wait another year before I can presume I am in menopause? Also fed up with condoms but clearly do not want to become pregnant. Would appreciate any advice ... similar situations ... Daffodil

Oh no, how annoying!

I think you do need to use contraception for another year, unfortunately. Just to be on the safe side.

What a pain, though.

Thank you for reply ... will see if I can talk to GP. Appreciate not an emergency and I think the wait time is over a month for an Appoitment .... Daffodil

What about a coil ?

JinglingSpringbells · 21/01/2023 07:48

Yes, you need to start counting again.

You also need 2 years of no periods if you are under 50 to abandon contraception, or 1 year with no periods over 50.

Highly unlikely you would conceive but it's up to you how you manage the choice.

Not much point seeing your GP to be honest as this is really par for the course with menopause.

Coil? I have one as part of potentially HRT - no idea if I'm menopausal or not as the coil stopped the periods but I've started using eostrogel when I remember to give the full HRT package ...
