Does oestrogel cause period like pain ?

I've just switched from patches to 2 pumps of orstrogen gel each morning. I haven't had a period for about 8years and never really had period cramps, but I've just started with the most debilitating tummy pain - feels like my ovaries are being crushed.
Is this likely to be as a side effect of the gel ?
Has anyone experienced anything similar ?

Not usually, no. There's no logic to that.

If you had never used hrt then you might feel some vague 'awakening' of the womb lining as it increased on estrogen, but not when you have been using hrt anyway.

As long as it's roughly the same dose and not hugely higher.

It's more likely to be something digestive. If it carries on, see you dr and maybe ask for a scan?

Yes, I had pain around my ovaries and womb when I was on estrogel. Back on patches now and it's disappeared.

I've had this too and to MN looking for others! I was fine with one pump, just mild cramps, but every time I tried to increase to two it was like the worst period pain ever. GP switched me to patches (same dosage as two pumps) and they've been better but still mild cramps when I put a new patch on. Saturday was quite bad though, like actual period pains. What makes it weird though is I've had a hysterectomy! But kept my ovaries. So I can only assume it's ovary pain or digestive although everything has been normal there as far as I can tell. Considering asking to be referred to the menopause clinic as I don't like the residue left by the patches but nervous the cramps will get bad again!
