Bleeding after 18 months of nothing

I had my last period 18 months ago. I'm 53. I'm on a HRT patch and am pretty healthy and well.
About 2 weeks ago I had some spotting, it was very dark and clotted. This has continued on and off and for the last 2 days it's lighter red blood and heavier. Not enough for a tampon or pas. I've just used panty liners.
Is this anything to worry about. I'm going to go to the doctor but I can't get an appointment for about 3 weeks.

I'm in the same situation. Heading to the docs today for an examination. It's likely to be absolutely fine considering your age. I was told that periodic bleeding can happen so close to menopause and even shortly after. Have you remembered to change each patch on time? Oestrogen is hugely sensitive.

Yes, my understanding is that bleeding after more than 12 months of no bleeding should be checked out

This happened to me. I was referred under the two week pathway, was told this was standard. Turned out I had fibroids which were removed.

The consultant did say that sometimes women can get a slight post memo bleed and it's nothing to worry about.

Definitely see your GP. All post menopausal bleeding is considered endometrial (uterine) cancer until proved otherwise. There are obviously less serious causes, but you have to check to eliminate the most dangerous one.
