HRT and bleeding

I am looking for reassurance and shared experiences- I have just started HRT for the first time. I’m on day 5 or 6. I started bleeding more or less straight away. So a light/medium period amount. I am taking the transdermal gel once a day plus the progesterone tablet once a day for 14 days on and 14 days off.
can I ask if the bleeding is normal?

Yes, the utrogestan tablets can cause a bit of light bleeding when you're on them. I've found the longer I've been on them the more it settles down, but also take the mini-pill which stops my cycles anyway as I can't be doing with any periods.

Were you still having periods and if so do you know where in your cycle you were when you started on the oestrogen?

Very normal for the first few months. Like any medication you need to take it for a few months to get used to side effects and let it take effect.

I had this and my gp said it was normal.

It was light bleeding and old blood. I'm still taking a daily tablet and using 4 pumps of gel daily with no break.

Phew.. have also just started using gel with mirena. Started bleeding - old blood, was worried but feel better now that I've read your doing the same. Is obviously normal.
