im 50 and I am 6 weeks late. Normally I am regular as clockwork. I was sterilised over 17 years ago but I still took a pregnancy test 🤦‍♀️.

is this normal?

Yes I'm 44 and mine have gone haywire after being regular 28 days for years.

Started HRT this week.

Justmuddlingalong · 07/01/2023 22:08

Mine have been early, late, missing, longer, shorter, heavier, lighter and although irregular, still irritating and manage to appear when least wanted. I'm 52.

PersonIrresponsible · 07/01/2023 22:15

I have one a year for about an hour. Every freaking year for four years.

Sleepybear1234 · 07/01/2023 22:58

Same here 44 will be 45 in couple of months currently 8 weeks late when usually always regular x not pregnant it's very strange after all these years of something turning up each month like a bad smell x

Sleepybear1234 · 07/01/2023 23:01

That should say 8 weeks since last period so about 4 weeks late x

Morielle · 07/01/2023 23:17

I'm 41 and currently in agony with mine, worst one I've ever had maybe :(
I can't wait for it all to stop, it's blighted my life but given me my precious dd

melchim · 08/01/2023 00:46

I'm 44 and haven't had one in 9 months. I've had a few breaks of 2-3 months in the last 4 years. It appears this is the beginning of the end!

Sleepybear1234 · 08/01/2023 00:53

@melchim comforting to know there are a few people my age skipping periods as people keep telling me I'm to young for peri although I feel about 104 at the minute

Sallydimebar · 08/01/2023 01:17

I’m 42 missed period Nov and Dec . No idea why ? Going to contact Gp this week, although from what Ive read it can be normal to miss a few .
I really don’t mind skipping them but have always been regular so this just doesn’t feel normal !

Sleepybear1234 · 08/01/2023 09:47

@Sallydimebar I know exactly what you mean feels very odd I would be so happy to miss a few but it's the not knowing why that is worrying every article I have read though says it is normal 😀

It's peri menopause. Periods peter out and there can be weeks or months between them.

EasterIsland · 08/01/2023 11:34

I'm not sure there's any "normal" really! But mine just stopped. One just around my 55th birthday. Then nothing.

I got prescribed tranexamic acid for my heavy bleeding this month. GAME CHANGER!

I went from floods and big clots on Thursday night to a very light period for the last three days and now stopping.

My ferritin levels had got really low but I had assumed my dizziness was down to peri meno.

So now I have TXA for the bleeding, iron tablets for the dizziness and hair loss and HRT for my prolapse, urinary incontinence and moods.

I am expecting to skip into Spring (and hopefully DH will get a wife who doesn't cry or feel faint all the time!)

I was told that too by one GP, but another one said it's within normal now, especially if your own mother went through menopause on the early side.

gogohmm · 08/01/2023 22:28

I've gone 8 weeks many times, common past around 45

Sleepybear1234 · 09/01/2023 06:59

@gogohmm thanks for the reassurance I have tired to speak to my mum about it but she doesn't like to talk about stuff like that x

Oblomov22 · 09/01/2023 07:23

Of course it is. Periods change and get less and less. Surely you know this?

EllaPaella · 09/01/2023 07:24

I'm 43 and miss 4 or 5 then have two in a few weeks. Am waiting for an appointment at the menopause clinic. Everyone keeps saying 'you're too young for the menopause' which is driving me mad.

NancyJoan · 09/01/2023 07:26

It’s normal. It will probably be back when you least expect it.
