I’m 52 and until Nov had not had a period for a year. Then I started to bleed lightly, four days after a covid booster so thought it may be connected. Have been bleeding ever since and for the last seven days it’s been really heavy, going through a tampon and pad in 30 mins heavy. Last night I was up every hour. I never had heavy periods before and just don’t know what to do for the best.
So my question is how do people manage, I don’t think I will be able to go into work unless this slows down or I can find a way to go longer than 30 mins to an hour!

Sounds like flooding. Happened to me but when I was early 40s. Went to gp and got an iron test as it can make ypu aneamic which also makes the bleeding worse. I was on holiday and the bathroom and sheets looked like I'd very messily killed someone. Cleaned up as best as I could.

I went on hrt which sorted it and have just switched to a mirena and oestrogel which is working for me.

Don't ignore it, it probably won't get better, but heavy bleeding in perimenopause is common.

They might check its nothing else.

You say you've been bleeding since November??
If it's been that heavy for that long (the last 7 days), I'd ask for a same-day GP appointment if you can.

Thanks for your responses. I’ve managed to get a GP callback this evening. I honestly thought I was bleeding to death last night and frankly I’m exhausted. Going to push to get something to get this under control but have never been on any type of hormonal medication before. Think I thought I could ride out this menopause stuff. Ha! Mother Nature had other plans…..
