Is this menopause?

The skin on my chest looks fine but it feels like it’s burning and pressing it feels tender. Now the burning is spreading up my neck. Both breasts are lactating slightly. I also have a pain in the centre of my ribs which started when I reached up to a high cupboard, my chest feels achy and heavy. I’m 43.

The GP thought I had a breast infection so she gave me antibiotics which didn’t fix it. Could this be a symptom of menopause or is something else wrong with me?

Doesn't sound typically peri tbh. The achy pain could just be a twanged muscle or tendon after the stretch, see if if settles down (obviously ring 111 if it gets worse).

I'm no expert but I haven't heard of women lactating in peri, perhaps it is down to a hormone imbalance but does sound more infection based the way you describe the burning pain and perhaps the lactating is pus?

Whatever the cause we can but only guess, but as you have active issues like pain and abnormal discharge you need to get back to the Drs asap for a review and perhaps different antibiotics.

do you have a breast implant?

I think your GP should take another look and maybe refer you to the breast clinic for an expert opinion.

My mum had similar symptoms and it was shingles. Definitely get it checked out,

Did you ever get an explanation, @Malaprah ?
